"Chosen" To Master
We have all heard the saying, "Jack of all trades, master at none." Creatives are often challenged with this statement because by nature, they are often blessed with multiple gifts. I am a firm believer that if God gave it to you, use it or lose it. I read something that made my jaw drop during my morning devotion last week and I wanted to encourage those creatives like myself with this word. Let's take a look at Exodus 31:3-6 NLT.
"Then the Lord said to Moses, “Look, I have specifically chosen Bezalel son of Uri, grandson of Hur, of the tribe of Judah. I have filled him with the Spirit of God, giving him great wisdom, ability, and expertise in all kinds of crafts. He is a master craftsman, expert in working with gold, silver, and bronze. He is skilled in engraving and mounting gemstones and in carving wood. He is a master at every craft! And I have personally appointed Oholiab son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan, to be his assistant. Moreover, I have given special skill to all the gifted craftsmen so they can make all the things I have commanded you to make:"
Whoa!! Did I just read that correctly? Yes I did!! So what is it that made him a master at every craft?
He was specifically chosen by the Lord.
He was filled with the Spirit of God which gave him great wisdom, ability and expertise.
The Lord gave him the ability to teach his skill to others.
When you are CHOSEN, God will make you a Master at every craft. How? Because it is by His Spirit that we are able to do what is already inside of us to do. It is His Spirit working in us to will and to do of His good pleasure! And no one is excluded if you are in the kingdom. He never gives us mastery to boast in ourselves. It is always for His glory.
In closing, never forget the parable of the talents in Matthew 25:14-30. Some have one, others may have five or ten talents. God expects for us to use our gifts and talents in order for them to produce and bring glory to his name. Never let anyone make you feel bad about your ability to do multiple things when God has chosen you as a master to do them. Don't bury your talent. Use the wisdom, ability, and expertise in every craft given to you by God. Finally, never be afraid to pull someone alongside of you and teach them the skills you have learned. I pray that this encourages someone to pick up what you laid down. The Lord has need of what's inside of you in the earth. Will the chosen please rise up and go forth!
